๐Ÿ”ต Why This Page Matters

๐Ÿ“š The Taxes page is your go-to tool to ensure tax compliance at the billing location level.
With this page, you can:

  • ๐Ÿข Assign tax rates to each billing location, including your Default Company Billing Address.

  • ๐Ÿงฎ Automatically apply the correct tax percentage when generating invoices.

  • โš™๏ธ Update tax settings when business or jurisdictional rules change.

  • ๐Ÿงพ Maintain a transparent tax history per client location.

โœ… In short: it ensures your invoicing is tax-accurate, location-specific, and compliant!

๐ŸŸข What You Can Do Here

  • ๐Ÿ‘€ View tax rates assigned to each billing location.

  • โž• Add new tax rates for your companyโ€™s billing addresses.

  • โœ๏ธ Edit existing tax percentages (location cannot be changed).

  • ๐Ÿงพ Ensure that tax rates are automatically reflected in invoices (new or regenerated only).

  • ๐Ÿšซ Disable tax functionality for tax-exempt clients using a toggle.

๐Ÿš€ How to Manage Taxes

๐Ÿ”˜ Enable or Disable Taxes

  • Navigate to: Company Settings > Taxes

  • Use the Apply Taxes toggle:

    • ๐ŸŸข On = Tax configuration table and "Add Tax" button are enabled.

    • ๐Ÿ”ด Off = Tax functionality is disabled, and all related actions are locked.

โž• Adding a Tax Rate

  1. Click Add Tax.

  2. Select a Billing Location:

    • Includes:

      • ๐Ÿข Default Company Billing Address

      • ๐Ÿ“ All active billing locations from the Billing Location & Overtime section.

  3. Enter Tax Percentage:

    • Format:

      • โœ… Up to 4 digits after the decimal (e.g., 13.0001)

      • โœ… Before decimal: 0โ€“99 range

  4. Click Save.

โœ๏ธ Editing a Tax Rate

  1. Click the three-dot menu beside a tax entry.

  2. Select Edit.

  3. Update only the Tax Percentage field.

    • ๐Ÿ“ Location is fixed and cannot be changed.

  4. Save changes.

๐Ÿ“ Note: Updates apply only to newly generated or regenerated invoices. Existing invoices will not auto-update.

๐Ÿ“Œ Points to Remember

๐Ÿ“ You can only assign one tax rate per billing location.
๐Ÿ“ If tax is disabled, all inputs and editing are locked.
๐Ÿ“ Tax Percentage Format:

  • Maximum: 99.9999

  • Precision: 4 decimal places allowed

๐Ÿ“ Edit only the tax %, not the billing location.
๐Ÿ“ Changes affect future invoices โ€” to reflect new tax rates on old ones, the invoice must be regenerated.

๐Ÿ’ก Quick Tips

  • ๐Ÿง  Keep your tax rates updated when government rates change.

  • ๐Ÿ—‚ Name billing locations clearly for easier selection.

  • ๐Ÿ”’ The toggle should be used with caution โ€” changing it impacts the entire invoicing module.

  • ๐Ÿ“ค Tax rates directly affect what appears in the invoice total, so accuracy is critical.
