Step 1 β€” Create Your Apple ID

Power on your iPad. If it is brand new, the setup wizard will prompt you to sign in or create an Apple ID.

  • Select Create a Free Apple ID

  • Use your company name as the email β€” for example, if your company is ABC Staffing, use: [email protected]

  • Don’t use your personal AppleID

  • Enter a mobile number when prompted and complete the setup

⚠️ Important: An Apple ID is required to download apps from the App Store. You cannot skip this step.

πŸ’‘ Tip β€” Managing Many iPads? If you manage tens or hundreds of iPads across multiple locations, you can use Apple MDM (Mobile Device Management) instead of setting up each iPad manually. Contact Jombone support to set up Apple Business Manager for MDM deployment.

Step 2 β€” πŸ”„ Update iPadOS

Make sure your iPad is running the latest software before installing the app.

  • Go to Settings β†’ General β†’ Software Update

  • If an update is available, tap Download and Install

  • Wait for the update to complete before proceeding

Step 3 β€” πŸ”’ Enable Guided Access

Guided Access locks the iPad to a single app so workers can only use the time clock β€” no other apps or settings can be accessed.

  • Go to Settings β†’ Accessibility β†’ Guided Access

  • Toggle Guided Access to ON

  • Tap Passcode Settings and set a Guided Access passcode (you will need this to exit the time clock later)

⚠️ Important: You must enable Guided Access before opening the Jombone app. If you skip this step, the triple-click shortcut in Step 6 will not work.

Step 4 β€” ⬇️ Install the Jombone App

  • Open the App Store on your iPad

  • Search for Jombone Business

  • Tap Install to download the app

Step 5 β€” πŸ”‘ Log In to Jombone

  • Open the Jombone Business app

  • Log in using your client time clock/admin credentials

Step 6 β€” βœ… Lock the iPad to the Time Clock

With the Jombone time clock screen open:

  • Triple-click the Home button (or the Side button on iPads without a Home button)

  • A Guided Access prompt will appear β€” tap Start

  • The iPad is now locked to the Jombone time clock. No other apps can be accessed. βœ…

πŸ’‘ How to Exit Guided Access: Triple-click the Home button (or Side button), then enter your Guided Access passcode.
